I am Research Support Coordinator for the TNW/S&T faculty since October 2022, and support topics related to Research Data Management, Open and Citizen Science, Ethics and Privacy. I assist research and support staff in the above functions, towards the development of Open Science themes. Together let’s progress towards more open, organized and participatory environments for knowledge creation!

Functional themes

(i) Research Data management: I advocate Open Science policies i.e. the creation and management of research data satisfying the principles of findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability. I work in close cooperation with our faculty Data Stewards, Iris Schutte and Simone van Lin, research policy officer, information specialists, ICT account manager and other specialists from the Library, ICT services and Archive (LISA) department.

(ii) Ethics: A university-wide research ethics policy is adopted by the University of Twente. This policy states that an ethical review of non-medical research is conducted by one of the domain-specific committees. To support ethically responsible research, projects involving human beings, personal data, human or animal materials including cells and cell lines, genetically modified organisms (GMOs), and research where the product could be used for harmful purposes can be submitted for ethical assessment. (iii) Privacy: I am a contact person within S&T for privacy-related questions, such as privacy of research subjects' data, data processing agreements and GDPR compliance. I work in close contact with the Data Protection team. The university has a Privacy website that provides key information and guides researchers through important GDPR information. The University of Twente has the obligation to record personal data processing. All registrations of personal data must be recorded across the University of Twente. To process personal data as a student or staff, please register this via the GDPR tool.
