B. Zhang MSc (Bo)

PhD Candidate

About Me

Bo comes from Harbin, a beautiful and exotic city in northeast China. After obtaining her B.Sc degree from Harbin Institute of Technology in 2011, she started her Master study abroad in Germany at the Technical University of Munich, majoring in Human Factors Engineering (HFE). In her master thesis, she investigated airline pilots’ visual behavior during manual approach and landing, as well as its relationship with manual flying performance.

Bo developed a deep interest in human behaviors from her master projects, particularly with a link to automated systems. Therefore, she continues her study as a PhD candidate at department VVR, University of Twente from 2016. Aiming to investigate human interaction with automated driving in cars and trucks, she focuses on the Transition of Control in automated driving and on differences between drivers in their response to take over control and response to unexpected situations. The focus is on prediction when the driver is ready to take back control, with a link to situational awareness.

In her spare time she loves painting and reading. When the weather is adorable, she also enjoys jogging or hiking the nature. Besides, to go for a trip and discover the world is always an exciting choice for her.
