dr. D.E. Proksch (Dorian)

About Me

Dorian E. Proksch is an Assistant Professor of High-Tech Business with a special focus on Data Science at the BMS faculty, University of Twente. Prior to joining UT, he completed his doctoral degree ("summa cum laude") and post-doctoral degree (so-called "Habilitation") in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation management at HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Germany. After that, he has been deputy chairholder for the Stiftungsfonds Deutsche Bank Chair for Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship for three years. He obtained his BSc. and MSc. in Business Information Systems from Technical University of Munich (Germany). During his studies, he spent one semester at Oklahoma State University (USA).

Dorian E. Proksch has published in premier international peer-reviewed journals, such as Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Research Policy, Journal of International Marketing, and Venture Capital: An International Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance.

Research

My passion is to apply data science to business problems. My research therefore centers around applying new methods from statistics and computer science to the domain of (digital) entrepreneurship and (digital) innovation management. Currently, I am focusing on applying machine learning and natural language processing in these domains. I am particularly focusing on transformer-based models. Furthermore, I am also conducting research in the domain of how to handle the endogeneity issue in business research.
