About Me
Current positions:
Currently (2022) I am 1) Assistant Professor at Erasmus MC at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, lab of prof. G.M. Ribbers; and 2) Postdoctoral Researcher at University of Twente, Biomedical Signals & Systems department, lab of prof. P.H. Veltink.
The consortium projects that I coordinate (e.g., ArmCoach4Stroke, ATTRACTIF) are focused on developing sensor-based technology for enabling home-based arm rehabilitation after stroke with remote supervision by therapists.
I coordinate projects with intense collaboration between different academic partners (e.g., Erasmus MC, University of Twente, TU Delft, Amsterdam UMC), rehabilitation centers (e.g., Rijndam Rehabilitation), companies (e.g., Umaco/Lode, 2M Engineering), technicians, funding agencies (e.g., NWO, ZonMw, DCVA, Health Holland), clinicians/therapists, and patient groups (e.g., stroke).
I currently (co-)supervise postdocs, PhD students, master students, and bachelor students of the Erasmus MC, University of Twente, and TU Delft.
In 2021, I served as Guest Editor for the Sensors special issue entitled 'Wearable Movement Sensors for Rehabilitation: from technology to clinical practice' (Link to the special issue of Sensors).
Previous positions:
- Postdoctoral Researcher & Project Coordinator, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Erasmus MC.
- PhD candidate, Human Movement Sciences, University of Groningen. Supervision: prof. dr. W. Zijlstra (University of Cologne, Germany), dr. M. Stevens (University Medical Center Groningen).
- Research Scientist, Philips Research.
Expertise areas:
Wearable Movement Sensors in Motor Rehabilitation: clinical application, algorithm development, technical validation, clinical validation, data analysis, sensor fusion, machine learning, deep learning, programming in Python, R, Matlab.
