Hans Moonen is a parttime assistant professor within the Industrial Engineering and Business Information Systems (IEBIS) section within the High Tech Business and Entrepreneurship (HBE) department at the University of Twente (Enschede, The Netherlands). He holds a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering & Management Science (2002) from Eindhoven University of Technology and did his PhD at the Erasmus University Rotterdam (2009). Before the start of his PhD Hans worked two years at enterprise software vendor BaaN, both in Quebec City (Canada) as well as the Barnveld (NL) offices. 

Since early 2009 Hans combines his parttime position at the University of Twente with a position as Expert Smart Logistics for 4 days/week at CGI, a global information technology and consulting company headquarted in Montreal, Canada. Hans has worked as an advisor to a range of companies, including Cargonaut, CP Rail, DPD, Havenbedrijf Rotterdam, KLM, Mexx, Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Nextlogic, Portbase,  PostNL, ProRail, Schiphol, Smartport, and SmartwayZ.NL. He furthermore served the EC as a projectreviewer and -evaluator, and is one of the teachers within the Logistiek Academy at Nyenrode Business University. 

At the University of Twente Hans is the module coordinator for BIT module 11 (BIT INC), and the primary teacher for the practical component within that module. Furthermore he serves as thesis supervisor for MSc students (mostly BIT, sometimes IE or TCS), and is the assistant promotor to a PhD Candidate.  

His primary areas of expertise and research interest are at the interplay between Logistics and IT: multimodal transport, planning, digitization, and data sharing.
