After receiving my bachelor’s degree in physics and math from the University of Michigan, I started graduate school at The University of Texas at Austin in Physics. Initially studying epitaxial crystal growth for applications to computer chip manufacturing, I switched my research topic to biophysics in the group of Ernst-Ludwig Florin. My dissertation describes a new method for measuring mechanical properties of microscopic filaments (specifically applied to single collagen fibrils) using optical tweezers. After defending my dissertation in the Spring of 2025, I started my postdoc work in BIOS with Prof. Sergii Pud.
