About Me

I'm currently researching adaptive strategies for embodied conversational agents (ECAs). I'm focused on finding conversational strategies, such as topic alignment and verbal alignment to improve the naturalness of a conversation between humans and ECAs. This involves the process of dialogue management, topic management and natural language generation.

Projects

The ARIA-VALUSPA (Artificial Retrieval of Information Assistants – Virtual Agents with Linguistic Understanding, Social skills, and Personalised Aspects) project has created a ground-breaking new framework that will allow easy creation of Artificial Retrieval of Information Assistants (ARIAs) that are capable of holding multi-modal social interactions in challenging and unexpected situations.

The BLISS (Behaviour-based Language-Interactive Speaking Systems) project involves the development of a Dutch interactive spoken dialogue system for longitudinal and personalized mental healthcare, where we use data and natural language processing to increase the self-management of people.
