J. Deng (Junyun)

Guest PhD Candidate

About Me

He received the B.S. degree in electric engineering and automation from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Wuhan,China, in 2017, and the M.S. degree in microelectronics and solid-state electronics from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shanghai Institute of Microsystem and Information Technology, Shanghai, China, in 2020. In Septmeber 2020 he started a PhD at the University of Twente on the  Packaging & Integration of Power Electronics project. His research interests include the applications of wide band gap semiconductors and high power density converter design.

Research

Future advanced GaN based power electronic converters will use advanced PCB and heterogeneous integration technologies. This involves a complex three-dimensional interplay between various organic materials and metals, integrated LCTs and clever high frequency circuit design. This project is developing a heterogeneous fabrication process for GaN power electronics on organic substrates. Special attention will be given to the electromagnetic integration of the passive components that include the resonant tank, low pass filter, high frequency transformer and EMI filters
