About Me

Dr. Joris J. van Hoof is Assistant Professor at the Department of Communication Science.

His research interests relate to how persuasive technology can influence human behavior. In the current shift towards digital communication and interaction, various strategies can be used to stimulate (nudge) behaviors. Most research in this field has been done in traditional, offline, contexts. And if online, this had been implemented in commercial context. The current research interests involve the implementation of offline insights in online contexts.

Joris van Hoof is an expert in compliance research for the legal sale of age restricted products, and other compliance with other sales protocols in retail. He has experience with a broad range of research methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative in nature.

Joris van Hoof obtained a Veni grant for excellent research (2013), and was a member and board member of the Young Academy @ UT.
