I did my Bachelor and Master in Biophysics at the Humboldt Universität zu Berlin. Especially during my Master, I developed an interest in optical microscopy techniques. In the group of Prof. Michel Orrit at Leiden University I got the opportunity to gather hands on experience in developing a novel microscopy technique based on the photothermal effect. After finishing my Master in September 2022, I now get to apply the knowledge I gathered in Berlin and Leiden in my project with Dr. Sergii Pud. We are working towards the label free detection of electrically trapped molecules. This is a novel approach combining iScat microscopy with dielectrophoretic actuation of proteins, in a technique we call ProAct.
