About Me

Jan van der Meij (1970) is Programme Director of  UT Teacher Education, ELAN, Department of Teacher Professional Development. After finishing a teacher training in electronics at Pedagogical Technical Higher Education (PTH) in Zwolle (1990-1994) and graduating with a masters degree in Educational Technology from the University of Twente (1997), he worked at the educational software design department of the national Centre for the Innovation of Education and Training (CINOP) in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (1997-2001). In March 2001 he started his PhD project at this University where he became permanent staff member in August 2006. He defended his PhD thesis titled “Support for learning with multiple representations: Designing simulation-based learning environments” on the 20th of December 2007.

Research

Jan’s research interest lies in teacher and learner use of ICT in the classroom. Currently he is investigating the use of video instruction and videofeedback coaching of starting teachers.
