Hi, I'm Miriam, born and raised in Lisbon, Portugal.
I am the manager of the recently established research program on ‘Personalized eHealth Technology’. This research program combines the expertise from multiple disciplines (e.g. Computer Science, Biomedical Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, Design, Behavioral Sciences) in the design, development and evaluation of technology to support those with chronic conditions.
I am also a researcher in eHealth & Telemedicine at Roessingh Research and Development, a research center in the Netherlands that primes in translating the needs from healthcare in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases to innovative and usable technology solutions. My research interest focus on investigating motivational strategies to improve adherence to eHealth interventions, mostly related to the promotion of active lifestyles.
Finally, I am a member of the board of directors of the International Society for the Measurement of Physical Behaviour, where I am responsible for the organisation of activities for the Early Career Researcher members of the society.
