Martijn studied Applied Mathematics at the University of Twente with a focus on operations research and received his M.Sc degree in 2016. Together with two fellow students, he won the AIMMS-MOPTA Optimization Modeling Competition at Lehigh University, USA, in the summer of 2015. Currently, he is a PhD student at the CAES group and involved in the SIMPS project. The aim of this project is to use profile steering to locally balance the energy demand and supply (e.g., at the household level). Among others, Martijn’s research interests include applications of mathematics to smart grids, optimization modeling and game theory.
