About Me

I am a PDEng Trainee in the Laboratory of Thermal Engineering. In 2008, I received the BSc degree in Chemical Engineering and Technology at University of the Punjab in Pakistan. From 2008 to 2013, I worked as a Process Engineer at Pakarab Ferttilizers Limted, Pakistan.  In 2013 I went to Germany for Masters in  Chemical and Energy Engineering from Otto Von Guericke University, Magdeburg. The MSc research (the influence of temperature on the micro structure of  maltodextrin agglomerates produced in fluidized bed was performed, at the Chair of Thermal process Engineering, Otto Von Guericke University. Since September 2017, I am doing PDEng  at the faculty of Thermal Engineering, University of Twente Netherlands.

Research

Valorization of paper sludge by using pyrolysis process.

The research is about modelling and optimizing the pyrolysis process for further upscaling. The patent pilot reactor has now been designed for 100 kg/h capacity. The project consists of developing a CFD model for the reactor and its validation with the operational results. Based on the validation, the reactor can be further designed, improved and finally up-scaled to 1000 kg/h. Next to reactor design, the optimization of the energy efficiency of the pyrolysis process will be part of the project.

Activities
CFD modelling of the reactor
Aspen plus process simulation
Participation in field tests with existing 100kg/h pilot plant
Validation of model with test results pilot plant
Design and improvements of pyrolysis reactor for industrial plant (1000 kg/h)
Design and improvements of energy efficiency of process for industrial plant (1000 kg/h)
