N. I. Kousi (Nefeli Iliana)

I am a PhD Candidate researching at the intersection of art, technology, and society, with a particular focus on social robotics. My work emphasizes playfulness as a key element in research and design processes. Through my current project, Dramaturgy of Devices, I apply improvisation techniques to the design of social robots, particularly in the fields of healthcare and elderly care. By exploring dramaturgical practices and design methodologies, I investigate the authenticity and practical value of care robots in these sensitive environments.

In my previous work, I employed improvisation and role-playing games as part of a co-design approach to customize the HELPER robot—a pain management tool for pediatric pre- and post-operative care—demonstrating how playful interaction can enhance robotic solutions for specific needs.
