R. Brüninghoff (Robert)

PhD Candidate / PhD Student

About Me

After an apprenticeship as chemical lab assistant and one year additional work experience at the CVUA Münster I studied chemical engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Münster with focus on applied chemistry. I did my bachelor assignment as internship at the Wolfson Centre for Materials Processing, Brunel University London on phosphor research. For my master assignment I worked as internship student at the Photocatalytic Synthesis Group (UTwente) on photocatalytic water treatment. Since May 2016 I am a PhD candidate at the PCS Group, working on photo- & electrocatalytic water treatment.

Research

My research topic is photocatalytic and (photo-)electrocatalytic degradation of organic micropollutants in industrial saline wastewater. One part of the project focuses on the development of (photo-)electrodes for industrial application. A further focus of the project is degradation studies and the influence of sodium chloride, especially on the formation of chlorinated organic compounds.
