I am a graduate in pharmacy (B.Pharm.) from Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR), University of Delhi. I received my M.S. (Pharm.) degree in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Mohali, India, in 2014. In the same year, I began Ph.D. work as a NIPER fellow at NIPER, Hyderabad, India (2014-20). In 2017, I received a fellowship from the DST (India) and DAAD (Germany) to work on a liver targeting formulation for the therapy of liver fibrosis (RWTH Aachen, Aachen, Germany). Further, I worked as a DBT-CNPq research fellow in an Indo-Brazil collaborative project (2016-19, University of Sau Paulo, Brazil). For my PhD thesis, I worked on novel therapeutics for the treatment of acute and chronic pancreatitis. Currently, as a DAAD-PRIME Fellow I am exploring the role of lipoxygenase enzymes for pharmacological targeting of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).

Currently, I focus on mechanistic targeting of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). NASH is the leading cause of liver transplantation and the pathological mechanisms of NASH remain still elusive. In this project, I am studying the pathological role of the lipoxygenase (LOX) enzymes in the progression of NASH. This project is a unique collaboration combining fundamental liver research (with Prof. Ralf Weiskirchen, RWTH University Hospital, Aachen, Germany) and translational liver targeting research (With Prof. Ruchi Bansal, at MCBP-TLR, UT) contributing towards improved understanding of disease pathogenesis and a novel therapeutic for the treatment of NASH.
