Dr. ir. Anke Aarninkhof - Kamphuis operates at the intersection of healthcare, complex organizations, strategic decision-making, and real estate, with a particular focus on long-term planning under conditions of uncertainty. Her work centres on the development of approaches for decision-making in complex and dynamic environments, integrating scenario planning, modelling, and real estate strategies, with a specific application in healthcare systems. Within this domain, she contributes to advancing knowledge on strategic decision-making under deep uncertainty in complex organizational and infrastructural contexts.

Her doctoral research focused on scenario planning and modelling to improve strategic decision making in complex organizations, explicitly addressing conditions of deep uncertainty. She successfully defended her PhD dissertation in May 2026. This work provides a foundation for further research on supporting organizations in making robust, long-term decisions in uncertain and evolving contexts.

A characteristic feature of her profile is the integration of academic research and professional practice. With over 20 years of experience as an independent real estate expert in the healthcare sector, she has been involved in strategic decision-making processes and complex development trajectories, spanning from early-stage exploration and planning to realisation. This interaction between research and practice informs both the development and application of knowledge in healthcare real estate and infrastructure.

Dr. ir. Aarninkhof - Kamphuis graduated cum laude as a Master of Science in Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences from Delft University of Technology in 2001. Her MSc thesis, within Real Estate and Project Management, examined the multifunctional stadium of FC Schalke ‘04 and resulted in several publications. She subsequently contributed to a range of healthcare projects, including hospital and care facilities in regions such as Nijmegen, Amsterdam, Eindhoven, Zwolle, and Enschede.

She also has international experience, having worked in the Czech Republic, Germany, and China. Her work is characterised by analytical rigour, interdisciplinary thinking, and a focus on structuring complex decision-making contexts and developing well-founded strategies, contributing to informed and effective decision-making in healthcare systems.
