Abel Cardoso Gonzaga Neto was born on February 2, 1990, in São Paulo, Brazil. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Engineering from the Federal University of ABC (UFABC) and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of São Paulo (USP), with research focused on elastomeric composites based on natural rubber.
During his academic training, he conducted research in elastomeric materials, gaining solid experience in applied rheology, elastomer mechanics, vulcanization kinetics, and the formulation of compounds reinforced with functional fillers, including graphene oxide, TESPT, and maleic anhydride.
He worked for more than six years on research projects in collaboration with the company Alpargatas, focused on the development of footwear formulations with an emphasis on mechanical performance and sustainability, strengthening his experience at the interface between scientific research and industrial application.
Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Twente, where he is developing a research project on the compatibilization of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) for applications in the tire industry, in collaboration with the company Ocisal.
His research interests include the development of advanced elastomeric materials, the study of dynamic-mechanical properties, and the application of rheological techniques for performance prediction. He has extensive experience in thermal characterization techniques (DSC and TGA), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), mechanical testing, and elastomer processing.
