Alessandro Varaldi received the B.Sc. degree in Electronic Engineering and the M.Sc. degree in Mechatronic Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, Italy. In 2023, he started his Ph.D. at Politecnico di Torino under the supervision of Prof. Marco Vacca. His research focuses on the efficient development of real-time data monitoring applications, with particular emphasis on hardware-software co-design for the efficient execution and acceleration of temporal neural network algorithms, including RNNs, CNNs, and Transformers. From February to November 2025, he conducted a research period at Ideas & Motion, an engineering company working on embedded systems and smart control solutions. During this time, he investigated techniques for monitoring the temperature of critical automotive components whose direct measurement is not feasible. Since April 2026, he has been a visiting researcher at the Computer Architecture for Embedded Systems group at the University of Twente, under the supervision of Prof. Marco Ottavi. There, his work focuses on fault detection for space applications based on Spiking Neural Networks (SNNs).
