Benjamin is a first-year PhD candidate whose project aims at developing a critique of individualism and reconceiving the concepts of rights, duties, and well-being in a new light. His project is situated at the intersection of moral and political philosophy with the philosophy of technology.
Benjamin's research is part of theĀ Ethics of Socially Disruptive TechnologiesĀ research program. His research contributes to the conceptual disruption research line.
Previously, Benjamin obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at University of Twente (UT). He also completed a Master's DegreeĀ cum laudeĀ in the Psychology of Conflict, Risk, and Safety and another Master's DegreeĀ cum laudeĀ in the Philosophy of Science, Technology, and Society, both at UT. For his research on populist radical right-wing voting from a social identity perspective and his research on potential roles of communities in sustainability transformations from a degrowth perspective, Benjamin won the BMSĀ graduation awardĀ for the academic year 2023/2024.
Benjamin has taught in the History, Ethics, and Philosophy of Technology Bachelor course at UT and contributed to various UT honours programs at both Bachelor and Master level with lectures on the concept of sustainability. Most recently, he worked as tutorial lecturer for the Bachelor course Ethics of Technology within the sustainability cluster at Eindhoven University of Technology.
