My name is Borjana Bogatinoska, and I am originally from North Macedonia. For the past five years, I have lived in the beautiful city of Maastricht (so my Dutch is on a 'limburgs en vlaams' level since my husband is Flamish). As of September 1st, I have started as a postdoc at the University of Twente, working on the FFRM project. With a bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a master's in water engineering, my expertise is in modeling fluvial flood patterns and designing adaptive measures.

Previously, I was a full-time PhD researcher in the Environmental Sciences department at the Open Universiteit. My PhD project was part of two European initiatives: the Interreg 2 Seas Co-Adapt and Horizon 2020 Eiffel projects. My research focused on developing participatory design tools (stakeholder co-creation) for climate adaptation and modeling the multifunctionality of nature-based solutions using integrated models, such as carbon and hydrological models. I am also passionate about bridging science and society, particularly in communicating climate change messages to inspire collective action.
