As being part of the European SIMPPER_MedDev network consisting of 12 PhD students in total, I am working on „Laser induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) on polymers“, a topic in laser materials processing.
In my project, I plan to create LIPSS on medical grade Cyclic Olefin Copolymer (COC). Those textures are in the range of the hundred nm up to µm scale resulting in a change of surface properties such as wettability, reflectance and friction. I'm focusing on changing the wettability of COC making those textures interesting e.g., for microfluidic applications.
Another focus of my project is to improve LIPSS formation on polymers as such formation is still challenging.

During my Bachelor and Master studies at the TU Dortmund studies in physics, I gained knowledge about the physics about mechanics, optics, lasers as well as particle and accelerator physics. I also gave some education in form of tutoring in higher mathematics and physics.
From my photonics Master studies at the FH Münster university of applied sciences, I gained deeper knowledge on optics, lasers and especially laser materials processing.
