I am a PhD researcher at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI) and the University of Twente (Faculty ITC). My research focuses on improving heat early warning systems, including how warning systems and thresholds are designed, how heat information can better support decision-making, and how heat stress can be measured and communicated. My work combines research with operational practice through case studies in the Netherlands and internationally. I also supervise MSc students working on extreme heat and related topics.

Alongside my PhD, I work as a Technical Advisor at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, supporting heat-related work around the world, including heat action planning, heat risk perception studies, and heat early warning systems.

I hold an MSc in Spatial Engineering (Cum Laude, Honours) from the University of Twente, with a thesis on “Heatwaves in Mozambique: a rising risk for public health” (9.5), and a BSc in Liberal Arts and Sciences (Cum Laude, Honours) from Amsterdam University College.
