- PhD researcher at the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute (KNMI) and the University of Twente (Faculty ITC), with a part-time position at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre. My research focuses on improving heatwave early warning systems (HEWS), including the development and evaluation of warning thresholds, assessment of user needs and decision-making, and the analysis of sector-relevant heat indicators. My work focusses on diverse case studies and climates, including both the Netherlands and internationally.
- Heat risk consultant at the Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, supporting heat-related work (heat action planning, heat risk perception studies, heat early warnings) in countries around the world including Honduras, Tanzania, and Indonesia.
- MSc Spatial Engineering (Cum Laude). Thesis on "Heatwaves in Mozambique: a rising risk for public health" (9.5) and BSc Liberal Arts and Sciences at Amsterdam University College.

Research profiles
I regularly talk to the media (mostly when it's hot) to share insights on climate change and the growing risks of extreme heat, both in the Netherlands and globally. I’m happy to talk about heatwaves and it's impacts on the human body and society, and what we can do about it. Below is a selection of recent interviews, quotes, and appearances.
