I am a PhD candidate at the University of Twente, Faculty ITC. I have been committed to water research. My master's degree is in water management, using nature-based solutions to improve urban flood resilience. My current PhD topic is flood management, exploring the impact of floods on human health, focusing on the impact of floods on the social health and mental health of vulnerable groups.
Flooding is one of the most common environmental disasters that cause mental and physical health problems (European Climate Adaptation Platform Climate-ADAPT, Nd). Flooding can cause loss of life and damage to personal property and critical public health infrastructure. Older adults are at particular risk of the effects of floods, and their implications on social and mental health. My research addresses the mental and social health effects of the flooding impact on older people. It adopts various methods, including a systematic literature review, and mixed methods empirical research.
