Diana Chavarro-Rincón was born in Colombia where she obtained a B.Sc. degree in civil engineering and specialized in water resources management. While in Colombia, she worked as a consultant in projects mainly related to agricultural development, before she moved to the Netherlands where she earned a M.Sc. degree in geo-information (ITC) and a Ph.D. in eco-hydrology (University of Twente). After joining temporally ITC and the Princeton University as a postdoctoral researcher, she worked for 5 years as an independent consultant in the field of remote sensing and water/natural resources management under the name Ambient Sensing. The scope of her work since then has been the application of Earth Observations in projects and education. In 2018, she returned to the University of Twente to work first, at the department of Geo-information processing, and later at the department of Water Resources of the faculty of Geo-information and Earth Observations (ITC)
