Having worked at the intersection of different disciplines, I grew to appreciate that societal challenges often involve interactions of people, technology, policy, and the surrounding social and physical environment. Addressing these challenges takes a collective effort of diverse stakeholders and disciplines. One of the obstacles in such transdisciplinary work are epistemological differences: assumptions about how knowledge is to be produced.
My aim is to develop methods of reflection on these assumptions to support transdisciplinary design practices.

My professional journey spans a number of disciplines, from signal processing, machine learning, and biomedical imaging to ethics of technology and design. Prior to joining the University of Twente, I was a post-doc researcher at Delft University of Technology, where I worked on the project Designing for Human Rights in AI at the AiTech multi-faculty program.

I am also the author of the Data Crow Watch blog, in which I engage with the public about socio-ethical impacts of artificial intelligence.
