Elham Shirazi (Eli Shirazi) got her PhD in Electrical Engineering with a focus on smart grid control. Her thesis is entitled: "Self-Healing of Smart Distribution Networks with PV Penetration by Distributed Control". She joined the University of Twente in 2021 after completing her postdoctoral research at the Electrical Engineering Department of Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium. She also worked at the Energy Department of IMEC, Belgium. Her research is multidisciplinary in Energy System Control with a focus on embedding trustworthiness principles into AI models that help decision-making in power systems while supporting the transition to a more resilient, flexible, autonomous, and low-carbon infrastructure.
Her research interests are:
- Trustworthy and physics-informed AI for power and energy systems operation and control
- Safe reinforcement learning for power and energy systems operation and control
- Multi-Agent Systems for distributed coordination and control
- Self-healing and self-organizing power systems
- AI-based and probabilistic forecasting of demand, renewable generation, flexibility, and electricity prices
- Data-driven and learning-based control of energy systems
She contributes to national and international research, education, and innovation initiatives, including activities within IEA PVPS, ETIP PV, and 4TU.Energy.
