Ester van Laar works as a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Communication Science. Her research interest focuses on measuring the level of 21st-century digital skills. This includes skills such as information management, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity and problem solving. In her research she combines various quantitative and qualitative research methods to identify and measure digital skills youth and working professionals need to learn. The 21st-century digital skills are considered as key to employment and innovation.
