About Me
Frances van Elburg started in 2015 with her study Industrial Design at the University of Twente. After receiving her Bachelors's diploma, she joined Solar Team Twente. Together with her team and their solar car, she participated in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge of 2019 in Australia.
In 2020, Frances started with the master track Advanced Materials Engineering, a specialization of the mater Industrial Design Engineering. During her masters, Frances worked as a student assistant for the Elastomer Competence Center. Because she liked working with elastomers so much, she finished her graduation project within the Elastomer Technology and Engineering (ETE) group. In collaboration with the company BOGE Rubber & Plastics, she researched the post-hardening effect in a silica-filled natural rubber compound.
Nowadays, Frances works as a Ph.D. student in the ETE group and a Junior Lecturer at the University of Twente. Her Ph.D. with the company Bridgestone focuses on creating a sustainable tire tread compound.
