Femke Schröder studied Technical Medicine (TM) at the University of Twente, after which she worked as a technical physician at OCON centre for orthopaedic surgery in Hengelo. In 2017 she got the opportunity to start with a clinical fellowship for technical physicians and specialised in 3D technology and imaging for orthopaedic surgery. Parallel to her job at OCON, she was an outside PhD student at the BE department. Her research focused on low and high field MRI to improve the diagnosis of the problematic total knee arthroplasty, and in 2021 she successfully defended her thesis. At the end of 2021, she transitioned to MST, where she continued her work as a specialised technical physician for the 3D lab and the orthopaedic department. Since April 2022, she has combined her work for the MST with her appointment at BE. Here she has a role in the TM education. Next to it, she focuses on her research on implementing 3D and imaging technology to improve patient-specific orthopaedic surgery.
