Me:
I was born in Würzburg, Germany, on the 17th of January 1988 on a cold and rainy Sunday afternoon. Since May 2018 I live in the Netherlands, however, do not ask about my Dutch language skills, they are highly improvable. I have a very hairy dog named Chewie (yes, I do love Star Wars but do not appreciate the Sequels much), he is from the streets of Romania which probably explains why he doesn't seem to understand me much. The by far most important "thing" in my life is my beautiful little daughter, who gives me joy and seemingly never-ending sleepless nights. She is also the reason why most of my hobbies like playing guitar (rock and heavier stuff) or running behind a ball with other people trying to kick it into a rectangle (so-called "football") are put on hold right now. Hopefully I can catch up in 10-15 years again... If you would like to learn more about me please have a look at point 3. above. Cheers, Fabian
CV and work related information:
My educational background is “Plastics and Rubber Engineering” which I studied at the university of applied science Würzburg-Schweinfurt (FHWS) and obtained my engineer diploma (Dipl.-Ing.) in May 2015. The topic of my diploma thesis was “Investigation of the influence of binary filler mixtures and interpenetrating polymer networks on the mechanical properties of vulcanized rubbers”.
Subsequently, I joined the Elastomer Technology & Engineering Group as a PhD student in co-operation with Evonik Resource Efficiency GmbH in Wesseling, Germany. On December 7th 2018 I successfully defended my PhD thesis, entitled: “Analytical method development to predict the in-rubber dispersibility of silica”.
With the end of the PhD project I joined the ETE Group as a postdoctoral researcher being mainly responsible for the “DRIVES” project funded by the EU to establish new education skills for employees working in the automotive industry in Europe.
In December 2019 I was appointed as an assistant professor in the group where I, amongst others, support the co-operation between the university of Amsterdam (VU) and the University of Twente in their joined mechanical engineer (ME BSc) program.
Even being strongly involved in several research projects at a time (Bachelor, Master, PDEng, PhD and PostDoc projects) my real passion is within the education. Please do not hesitate to contact me whenever I can be of assistance.
