I'm a geodesist with an MSc degree from the Delft University of Technology and a PhD degree from the University of Bonn, Germany. I'm professor in Geo-information Extraction with Sensor Systems  at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) of the University of Twente, the Netherlands. I am also head of the Department of Earth Observation Science and mentor for the Algorithms and Software AI specialisation of the Robotics Master's programme. My research fields are photogrammetry and laser scanning (lidar). This includes the extraction of spatial and semantic information from images and point clouds, nowadays often based on deep learning.
