J.F.H. Beeloo (Jeroen)

After obtaining my degree, Bachelor of Design, at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (HKU) in Utrecht, I got the opportunity to work at the Department of Design, Production & Management (DPM), University of Twente, responsible for the model workshop. After 4 years in this position with great enthusiasm, I got the opportunity to work as a lecturer. And I am doing this for 7 years now, with great pleasure! In both positions I noticed that my experience (as a designer) and my education at the art academy is a nice addition for education and students. 

As a lecturer I am mainly occupied with drawing and design courses within the bachelor curriculum of Industrial Design and Create. These are the courses Design Sketching 1, 2, 3, Design and Styling and Sketching for Create. Besides these courses I give workshops in the field of design and styling and supervise students during their bachelor assignment. In the Master curriculum I support colleagues in the assessment of courses, such as Graphic Language of Products of Maaike Mulder. Furthermore I am module and project coordinator of the first module for Industrial Design. Among other things, this means that every year I come up with a new challenging assignment for Project Kick Start, which is great fun!

Looking at the things I do (as a person, designer and teacher) you can say that creativity plays an important role in my life. I believe that it is in humanity to create. It is an evolutionary quality to move forward.

As Albert Einstein once said: "To raise new questions, new possibilities, to regard old problems from a new angle, requires creative imagination and marks real advance in science".

Once you have experienced and felt what it is like to invent, create and express yourself that way, you want to do that more often. It is addictive!
