Jeroen Meijerink is Associate Professor at the University of Twente (The Netherlands). His research activities focus on the value(s) of alternative organizational forms (e.g. online platforms, cooperatives, and ecosystems) and new forms of work (e.g. gig work, data annotation, and social media content creation) that are enabled by digital technologies such as management algorithms, artificial intelligence and online marketplaces. He currently is the leader of the NWO-funded project 'Don't Forget the Forgotten: Towards a Platform-Based Approach for a Sustainable Employment of Workers with a Disability' (2024-2030) that aims to foster the labor market inclusion of disabled individuals.

Jeroen adopts a technology realist perspective on the consequences of technology for work(ers), organizations and institutions that combines insights from different fields of research such as sociology, economics, philosophy and management. A guiding question in his research is how technology brings about new forms of organizations and work, in what ways novel organizations and jobs are designed, organized and managed to create social (il)legitimacy/societal value, and how relevant stakeholders can co-create value in technology-enabled work settings. As a part of his scholarly work, Jeroen has contributed to the codesign of inclusive online labor platforms and empowering algorithmic management systems, consulted business leaders, public policy makers and labor union representatives, and appeared in various media outlets.

In his role as an educator, Jeroen has co-developed the learning line in the BSc Health Science program on Personnel/HR & Organization (spanning four modules and totals 22 EC). He is a coordinator and teacher in the following educational programs: International Business Administration (bachelor), Health Sciences (bachelor), Business Administration (master), and the Master Public Management (master).
