Jovana Jezdimirovic Ranito works at University College Twente as an assistant professor. She teaches and conducts research in the fields of engineering education and international relations. She investigates the relationships between those involved in international security, with a focus on private security providers. Additionally, she is interested in improving the attributes of students in engineering education, with a particular emphasis on transdisciplinary learning, professionalization of collaboration, and a sustainable mindset.

Jovana holds an expert mandate in the UN Working Group on Mercenaries from October 2023. The working group is focused on protecting human rights in relation to the operations of private actors that offer security and military services, such as mercenaries, private military and security companies.

Jovana Jezdimirovic Ranito holds an:


- PhD in International politics and Conflict resolution (2016) 
- MA in Peace and Security studies (2009), 
both from the University of Coimbra, Portugal.

Jovana did her postdoctoral work on global security assemblages at the University of Porto before to joining the faculty of Twente. She received multiple honors, including the Portuguese Political Science Association's Best Doctoral Dissertation and Summa Cum Laude for her doctorate.
Jovana also participates in University College Twente's Program Committee.
