Johannes Steinrücke completed his BSc in Psychology at the University of Twente in 2015 and graduated from the Research Master Methodology and Statistics for the Behavioural, Biomedical and Social Sciences at Utrecht University in 2017.  During his master’s thesis project, he visitied a serious gaming company in the Silicon Valley as intern.  

In September 2017 he started his PhD project at the research group of Instructional Technology (IST), where he was working on assessment and instructional interventions in digital game based learning environments. He successfully defended his dissertation in September 2021.

After completing his PhD project, Johannes started working as a Lecturer at IST. In September 2022, he switched to the research group of Cognition, Data and Education (CoDE), where as of October 2022 he is working as Assistant Professor Data Science. In this role, he is facilitating the faculty's transition to R for research and teaching staff.
