Jelle Turkenburg is a PhD-candidate as from September 2021 at the faculty of Behavioural, Management and Social Sciences at the University of Twente. His research focuses on the effect of hybrid democratic innovations on the political attitudes of citizens in the Netherlands. Jelle's other fields of interest relate to political participation and technology. On top of that, he teaches in the master European Studies.

In 2020, Jelle obtained his Master degree in Public Administration at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam and wrote his thesis about the effects of internet usage on protest participation in the Netherlands. The latter was nominated for the Brasz-thesis prize 2020. Jelle also holds a Master degree in Business Administration at the University of Amsterdam, with a thesis written about the effect of organisational stakeholder cultures on turnover intentions.
