Coming from a background of film and television production in South Africa, Janet transitioned to instructional design when she accepted a position on the MOOC team at Wits University’s Centre for Learning, Teaching and Development. The team developed accessible, student-centered courses for the global edX platform. During lockdown in 2020 she moved to the Netherlands and took up a remote contract as Instructional Designer at the University of Sunderland (UK) where she provided advice and expertise on instructional design strategies and supported academic staff to create and enhance learning content for their courses. She took up a position as elearning specialist at the University of Twente in November 2021.
