Dr.ir. Kenan Niu is an assistant professor in the Robotics and Mechatronics (RAM) Group at the University of Twente (the Netherlands) since 05. 2022. He obtained a doctoral degree in the field of biomechanical engineering from the University of Twente in 02.2018. His Ph.D. research focus on Ultrasound based motion tracking for tracking real-time knee kinematics. He received the BS and MS degrees in biomedical engineering (both as Cum Laude) from Northeastern University (China) with specialization in medical image processing and surgical navigation in 2011 and 2013, respectively.

From 03.2018 to 01.2019, he worked as a postdoc researcher in imec-Vision Lab for dynamic 4D heart modelling at the University of Antwerp (Belgium). From 02.2019 to 04.2022, He worked as a postdoc researcher at the Robot-Assisted Surgery group (RAS) at KU Leuven (Belgium). His work includes research, development, and management of several European and nationally funded research projects (e.g. FWO-RadarSpine-2022-2024, H2020-FAROS-2021-2024, ICON-DIASTOLE-2018-2019.
