Laura is an interdisciplinary researcher combining philosophy and organisational studies. She holds two master's degrees, both cum laude, in Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society and in Public Administration, and completed her PhD at the University of Twente. Her doctoral thesis examined how human dignity can be promoted in algorithmic and AI-based management systems that affect vulnerable people in the labour market.
Her research interests centre on AI at work, as well as qualitative research methods, impact-driven research methodologies, and interdisciplinarity. Her work has appeared in outlets such as Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management Journal, and Ethics and Information Technology.
Laura is currently a postdoctoral researcher on the two-year project "AI Literacy in Practice". The project draws on business perspectives and virtue ethics to reconceptualise AI literacy as a dynamic, virtue-based capability for organisations. This means asking questions such as: what kind of organisation do we aspire to be, and how does AI technology fit into that picture? Through empirical studies, the project explores how virtue-based AI literacy is lived, and can be lived, in organisational practice.
