I am BMS Research Support Coordinator since October 2016, and I can support several topics that are closely connected:
- BMS Ethics Committee: Information is provided on the BMS Ethics website, e.g. info on informed consent procedures and much more ethically related info. We have an ethics review web application where you submit your research for ethical review. I am involved in faculty and UT-wide policy on research ethics. I join a working group at the UT on ethical infrastructure and a working group on a national level (Nethics). I manage the BMS Ethics website. I am involved in handling complaints of research participants. Together with Shaunie Schutten, I maintain the administration in the BMS ethics web application. - Privacy (GDPR/AVG): I am the contact person for research within BMS when you have privacy-related questions, such as privacy of research subjects' data, data processing agreements (also supported by our BMS Data stewards), GDPR processing registration etc. I receive a wide variety of questions, therefore I work in close contact with the DPO-team. The UT has a Privacy website, make sure you check the information there before contacting me as it may provide answers already. The website guides you through the important GDPR, provides a special poster (hang it above your desk!) with an explanation in case you work with personal data in your research, and keeps FAQ’s on education and research. The UT has the obligation to document personal data processing. So, if you are processing personal data in your research (students as well as staff) you need to register this via the GDPR tool. BMS also updates information on the use of personal information in research.
- Research Data management: I am involved in RDM policy. However, since 2020 the actual support goes via our BMS Data Stewards Deniece Nazareth & Minsi Li. I will be involved when support is needed on ethics or privacy topics. We work in close contact.
- Pure Research Information: PURE RESEARCH INFORMATION is the back-end system where researchers can manage their research output, profiles and activities. This information is published on a public portal: UNIVERSITY OF TWENTE RESEARCH INFORMATION. The general website is: https://www.utwente.nl/en/ris/ .
I am the Pure faculty manager, and can support you in your questions regarding managing your scientific output or your visibility. Make sure you check the RIS Pure support website as well. I can support reports from the scientific output.
- PhD policies: I am involved in all kind of PhD related topics and activities, I maintain the BMS PhD Intranet portal. I work on BMS PhD policies, such as the 'BMS starting points for PhD-trajectories', the BMS PhD Fund, etc.
