Microfluidic system for biological sample testing at the crime scene

To be able to distinguish between traces of the victim or of the perpetrator at the crime scene is of importance, since only a limited number of samples can be sent to the lab for further analysis. Therefore we will develop a point-of-care microfluidic device that can measure distinctive biomarkers, thereby indicating if that specific sample is of the victim or possible other persons. In close collaboration with our partners in AmsterdamUMC, we will come up with a panel of possible biomarkers. The first step is to develop a sensor for every biomarker. Next step is to combine these sensors in one device in collaboration with the MCS group. Finally the multiplexed microfluidic device will be tested.
