Hello, my name is Merve Atlıoğlu. I am an EngD candidate at the University of Twente, Chair of Elastomer Technology and Engineering (ETE). I obtained my bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Middle East Technical University (METU) in Türkiye, studying from 2014 to 2019. After graduating, I worked as a Materials and Process Engineer at Turkish Aerospace from 2019 to 2024, focusing on composite materials for aerospace structures. Concurrently, I pursued a master’s degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at METU from 2020 to 2023, where my research centered on laser and plasma surface treatment methods to enhance primer paint adhesion on thermoplastic matrix composites.
Currently, at the ETE group, I am developing innovative rubber compounds to improve the flexibility and dynamic stiffness of winter tires. Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I enjoy tango dancing, music, and spending time in nature.
