I'm a PhD Candidate at the University of Twente, engaged in research focusing on patient advocacy in healthcare systems. Our work is organized around the VOICE project, which centers on five focus areas: Value, Organization, Impact, Compensation, and Equity.
Our research explores how patient representatives experience their roles and investigates the interplay between Value (perceived worth of expertise), Organization (structural embedding), Impact (effectiveness), Compensation (recognition and appreciation), and Equity (fairness and equal conditions in participation).
Together with a group of cancer patient representatives, we co-create this research to ensure our findings are grounded in real-world practice and translate into actionable insights for stakeholders across the healthcare sector.
By utilizing rigorous qualitative and quantitative methods alongside policy analysis, our aim is to move beyond academic findings and produce practical recommendations that strengthen patient participation and contribute to improved organizational and systemic practices.
