Research

Recent research focused on the challenges of governance complexity in protecting significant ecosystems, aiming at governance assessment to enhance resilience in natural areas; was involved in the coordination of the EU funded project on resource efficiency and bio-economy in the frame of Interreg Europe programme; Experienced in the development of project proposals for EU Interregional cooperation programmes, such as Interreg Europe/ Interreg NSR programmes.

Education

Ph.D. (2019) in the field of Governance for Resilience from the University of Twente, and MSc degree (2001-2002) in the field of Environmental Management and Policy from the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, Sweden. Experienced in the development and application of environmental strategies to promote preventative approaches to environmental problems, educated to use knowledge from disciplines including engineering, natural sciences, business administration, economics, law, and social sciences to anticipate and prevent the occurrence of environmental problems. BA degree (1994-1999) from the Institute of Ecology, Environment, and Agribusiness at Georgia Academy of Sciences (Georgia) in the field of Accounting and Audit in Agribusiness.

Projects

Coordination and communication of the Delta Lady project which is funded by EU Interreg Europe programme. It aims to foster sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage for regional economy in European river deltas. Previously, involved in the DROP project, “benefits of governance in DROught adaPtation” in the frame of the Interreg IVB NWE programme. Prior to my research, I worked for the Province of Friesland in Leeuwarden, at the department of the European Programs and Projects, undertaking research, advising and assisting with the development of project proposals related to the regional development and innovations. I also worked for Cartesius Institute for Sustainable Innovations of the Dutch Technical Universities (Delft, Eindhoven and Twente), has been involved in the EU Interreg projects related to protected areas, sustainable innovations and water management.
