About Me

I holds a Master's Degree in the field of Environmental Management and Policy from the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, Sweden, and BA degree from the Institute of Ecology, Environment and Agribusiness at Georgia Academy of Sciences (Georgia) in the field of Accounting and Audit in Agribusiness. My current research project aims at assessing the governance context to enhance resilience of nature areas. The main question is to what extent the governance context supports or hampers implementation of adaptive measures towards fostering resilience of these areas. I have been involved in the DROP project, “benefits of governance in DROught adaPtation” in the frame of the Interreg IVB North West Europe program. Prior to my research, I worked for the Province of Friesland in Leeuwarden, at the department of the European programmes and projects, undertaking research, advising and assisting with the development of project proposals related to the regional development and innovations. Moreover, I worked for the Cartesius Institute, the Institute for Sustainable Innovations of the Dutch technical universities (Delft, Eindhoven and Twente) and has been involved in the EU Interreg projects related to protected areas and sustainable innovations.

Research

My current research aims at assessing the governance context to enhance resilience of nature areas. The focus is on the challenges of governance complexity in protecting significant nature areas. Governance for resilience is a new phenomenon in relation to protected areas. The main question is to what extent the governance context supports or hampers implementation of adaptive measures towards fostering resilience of these areas.
