M.P. Hendriks MD (Mathijs)

Guest PhD Candidate

About Me

Since 2010 I work as a medical oncologist at Northwest Clinics Alkmaar. I have a special interest in breast cancer and colorectal cancer. Besides patient care, I am a member of the teaching team for the internal medicine training in collaboration with Amsterdam University Medical Centre.

In our hospital, we conduct a lot of research in the field of oncology. In collaboration with the Comprehensive Cancer Centre Organization Utrecht and University of Twente, I started a PhD project under supervision of prof. dr. Sabine Siesling, with co-promotors dr. Agnes Jager and dr.ir. Xander Verbeek.

Our PhD project focusses on three topics around the main theme “using information computing technology for decision support in patients with breast cancer”: on the level of the multidisciplinary team (guideline support using the method of clinical decision trees), the national level (guideline evaluation by projecting data of the Dutch Cancer registry on clinical decision trees) and the patient level (web-mediated monitoring of patient-reported side effects of (neo)adjuvant chemotherapy).

For students who are interested in our work: do not hesitate to contact us as we have internships available once in a while for highly motivated and enthusiastic future colleagues.

Contacting me is easiest using my IKNL address: mathijs.hendriks@iknl.nl
