M. Pilar Ruiz joined SPT Group at the University of Twente in June, 2017. She has a Ph. D. Degree in Chemical Engineering, obtained from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) in 2008. M. Pilar Ruiz occupied for four years a position as Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma (USA). Later she joined Abengoa, an international company on renewable energy, to develop research in the areas of bioenergy, water and hydrogen. Her expertise is focused on the areas of thermochemical conversion of biomass, reduction of NO X  by its interaction with carbon materials, as well as on the synthesis and applications of carbon nanotubes and the development of nanostructured catalysts for biofuels upgrading.
