I am a PhD candidate in the Robotics and Mechatronics (RAM) group at the University of Twente. I work on the CloSer project (Horizon Europe), which aims to close the control loop in soft robotics. My research focuses on simulation and closed-loop control of soft robotic grippers, with the goal of making compliant grippers precise and reliable in real manipulation tasks.
I hold a BSc in Biomedical Engineering from Ethiopia and an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Twente. My MSc thesis, carried out in collaboration with RAM, developed an image-guided navigation workflow for a magnetic endovascular robot, validated on patient-specific vascular phantoms. Before starting my PhD, I worked at Flux Robotics in Enschede on navigation and imaging software for magnetic surgical robotics.
