Yasir is a post-doc researcher at the Industrial Engineering and Business Information Systems (IEBIS) group at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. His research focuses on evaluating the economic aspects of cybersecurity, employing empirical methods, especially Internet measurements and data science, to promote further understanding of the threats from management perspectives and help decision makers develop a better security strategy.
He finished his PhD in March 2025 at the same group under the supervision of dr. A. Abhishta and prof.dr.ir. L.J.M. Nieuwenhuis. His doctoral research was funded under NWO project MASCOT – MeAsuring Security in Cloud OuTsourcing, focusing on using empirical methods to measure the security and resilience of the cloud service ecosystem against cyber risks. To achieve this objective, he used Internet measurement techniques to investigate cyber risk in cloud services from two perspectives: as cloud providers and as cloud consumers.
